ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

  • Arlington Avenue will close between West 1st Street and Island Avenue.  
  • Northbound traffic will be detoured to Virginia Street or Center Street.  
  • Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge. 
  • West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.  
  • Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.  
  • River recreation detours will also be in place.

ARROWCREEK PARKWAY & WEDGE PARKWAY REHABILITATION

Work will continue on the Shared Use Path on the east side of Wedge Parkway; utilities will be raised in both the southbound and northbound directions.

Arrowcreek Parkway 

Work on Arrowcreek Parkway is substantially complete.

Wedge Parkway

  • Wedge Parkway will be open to two-way traffic with intermittent closures and flagger controls to complete remaining work items.
  • Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours; please use alternate routes such as Arrowcreek Parkway, Thomas Creek Road, and S. Virginia Street.
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday


MILL STREET CAPACITY & SAFETY

Week of December 8

Underground utility improvements crossing Reservation Road at Mill Street are anticipated to begin sometime between December 8 to 19 and last approximately four (4) days. During this time traffic will be detoured to Golden Lane. Please follow the signed detour.

Bus Stop Closures
RTC RIDE bus service may be temporarily impacted within the project area. Detours or changes to bus stop locations will be noted in advance at the affected bus stop and at https://rtcwashoe.com/alerts/

In the event of a closure, riders should follow signage to the nearest bus stop of call RTC customer service at (775) 348-RIDE (348-7433) for real time information.

SPARKS BOULEVARD CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – NORTH PHASE

Construction will continue through June 2027. Project limits are from intersection of Sparks Boulevard/I80 westbound ramps to the intersection of Sparks Boulevard/ Shadow Lane.

The community is encouraged to stay informed about the project by accessing the project website (www.sparksblvdproject.com), or by texting “Sparks” to 866-540-8466.  

Construction operations will mostly take place from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the northbound direction and 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the southbound direction, Monday through Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance of this work. 

December 8 – December 12

The community can expect the following traffic control:

Southbound (9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday)

  • Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between O’Callaghan Drive and Prater Way.
  • Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and O’Callaghan.

Northbound (5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday – Friday)

  • Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Prater Way and Springland Drive.
  • Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard amd Springland Drive and Baring Boulevard.
  • Howard Drive Detour:
    • Howard Drive closed at Sparks Boulevard. Detour availbale via Fargo Way to O’Callaghan Drive.


TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER 25-01

Installation of traffic fiber on Vista Boulevard from Prater Way to Baring Boulevard, Longley Lane from Maestro Drive to S. McCarran Boulevard, Kietzke Lane from Fisherman’s Park to Galletti Way, and Galletti Way from Kietzke Lane to Glendale Avenue.

Vista Boulevard

  • Single lane closures for trenching operations.

Kietzke Lane & Galletti Way

  • Intermittent lane restrictions for miscellaneous construction.


TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS 25-01

Working hours for the project are 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. This project contains multiple locations of work.

Baring Boulevard/Truckee Lane

Work begins at this intersection for the installation of new traffic signal poles and other equipment on Baring Boulevard. During working hours, the outside westbound lane on Baring Boulevard will be closed intermittently from Rockwood Drive to McCarran Boulevard. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

E. Greg Street/Kleppe Lane

Work begins at this intersection for the installation of new traffic signal poles and other equipment on E. Greg Street and Kleppe Lane. During working hours, the outside lanes on E. Greg Street will be closed intermittently in both directions from approximately 500 feet east of Kleppe Lane to the I-80/Vista Drive Interchange. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times in both directions.

Robb Drive/Seventh Street

Crew begin concrete paving work. During working hours expect intermittent closures of the outside lane in either direction on Robb Drive (between Mae Anne Avenue and Blue Canyon Drive) and on 7th Street (between Robb Drive and Painted Cliff Drive/Stargaze Way). Once lane of traffic in both directions will remain open at all times.

Mayberry Drive/Hunter Lake Drive

Pole foundations are complete for the installation of school zone flashers on Mayberry Drive and an emergency vehicle flasher at Fire Station No. 5. Work will be paused at these locations while we wait for arrival of flasher poles and equipment. Crews will begin work at other locations during this time.

Q & D may be on site throughout December to complete remaining punch list items. Traffic will be maintained with possible minor intermittent closures. Access will be maintained in each direction; punch list work will be performed during Normal Working hours (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).


VISTA AND DISC INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Work on the new turn lanes is substantially complete and the lanes are open to traffic. Please use caution around the intersection as minor work items occur.

Final traffic signal upgrades and road striping work will occur in the first half of 2026 when temperatures are warmer.


WEST FOURTH STREET DOWNTOWN

Crews will be working on the north side of Fourth Street between West Street and Keystone Avenue. Westbound outside lane will be closed in certain areas to provide a work zone buffer. Traffic impacts should be minimal but slow down for workers.

Redwood Place is permanently closed between Mill Street and Market Street. Louise Street remains open.

Week of December 15

Drivers will see single lane closures eastbound and westbound on Mill Street in the vicinity of Kietzke Lane. On Tuesday 12/16, westbound Mill Street will be reduced to one lane from Terminal Way to the signal at Grand Sierra Resort (GSR).
