ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

Arlington Avenue will be closed between West 1st Street and Island Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured to the Virginia Street Bridge or Center Street. Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge.

  • West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.
  • Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.
  • River recreation detours will also be in place.

New Lane Configuration

Mill Street is restriped in a new temporary lane configuration from west of Kietzke Lane to I-580. Drivers are asked to use caution through lane shifts and note changes to turn lanes at the Mill/Kietzke intersection. No on-street parking is allowed in this area. These temporary traffic conditions will be in place through 2025.

E. LINCOLN WAY ROUNDABOUT RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Construction on E. Lincoln Way between Marina Gateway Drive and Sparks Boulevard is anticipated to continue through September.   

  • On Saturday morning, September 12th from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the Legends Bay roundabout will be closed to perform slurry operations. Vehicles should follow posted detour.
  • Normal working hours are 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday morning.
  • Scheels roundabout will be fully closed during night-time working hours.
  • One paved travel lane in each direction will remain open through E. Lincoln Way between Sparks Boulevard and Marina Gateway Drive during the day, except on September 12th when this section of road will be closed for slurry operations from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 am.
  • There will be limited access to/from Scheels Drive, George Ferris Drive, and north mall access through the Scheels roundabout intermittently during the day throughout construction. Alternate access to adjacent properties will be maintained.
  • Left turn lanes from northbound Sparks Boulevard to westbound E. Lincoln Way will be reduced throughout construction.
  • Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours and exercise caution through the work zone.


VISTA PRATER SIGNAL FIBER CONNECTION PROJECT

SPARKS BOULEVARD CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – NORTH PHASE

Construction will begin Monday September 15, 2025 and continue through June 2027. Project limits are from intersection of Sparks Boulevard/I-80 westbound ramps to the intersection of Sparks Boulevard/Shadow Lane.  

The community is encouraged to stay informed about the project by accessing the project website (www.sparksblvdproject.com), or by texting “Sparks” to 866-540-8466.  

Construction operations will mostly take place from 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the northbound direction and 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM in the southbound direction, Monday through Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance of this work.  

September 22 – September 26 

The community can expect the following traffic control:  

  • Single lane closure northbound Sparks Boulevard between Springland Drive and Baring Boulevard between 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  
  • Single lane closure southbound Sparks Boulevard between O’Callaghan Drive and Baring Boulevard between 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  
  • Single lane closure southbound Sparks Boulevard between O’Callaghan Drive and Prater Way between 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

VISTA AND DISC INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts for construction of new and extended turn lanes at the Vista Boulevard and Disc Drive intersections:

  • Various lane closures on Disc Drive between Sparks Boulevard and Vista Boulevard.
  • Various lane closures on Vista Boulevard between Iratcabal Drive and Caledonian Drive
    • Southbound Vista closures will occur between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    • Northbound Vista closures will occur between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Periodic closure of driveways to access the Spanish Springs Center will be necessary. Access to this shopping center will be available via alternate driveways along Disc Drive and Vista Boulevard with signage provided.
  • Various sidewalk closures will also be in effect along Vista Boulevard and Disc Drive. Pedestrian detours will be signed as needed.
  • All turning movements at the Vista Boulevard and Disc Drive intersection will remain open during work.

Work is expected to continue through October.

ARROWCREEK PARKWAY & WEDGE PARKWAY REHABILITATION

September 22 – September 26

Phase 2 of paving operations will start on Arrowcreek Parkway and will continue through mid-September. This work will start at the west side of the Wedge Parkway/Arrowcreek Parkway Intersection and extend approximately 1,000 feet east/north of the intersection. Work on Wedge Parkway is scheduled to resume on September 24.

Arrowcreek Pkwy 

  • Arrowcreek Parkway Phase 2B Full Eastbound Closure
    • Phase 2B will continue through September 22
    • Arrowcreek Parkway will be closed to traffic in the east/north direction during this phase of construction traffic will only be allowed to travel west/south.
      • Access Wedge Parkway from Mt. Rose Hwy during this phase of work.
  • Arrowcreek Parkway – Phase 2C
    • On Tuesday, September 23, Arrowcreek Parkway will be closed to traffic in the:
      • East/North direction during the morning
        • Traffic will only be allowed to travel west/south during this time.
      • West/South direction in the afternoon
        • Traffic will only be allowed to travel east/north during this time.
      • Access Wedge Parkway from Mt Rose Highway during this phase of work.
    • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Wedge Parkway

  • Work will resume on Wedge Parkway on September 24
    • Granite will be completing concrete improvement sin the southbound lane from Golden Gate Drive to Whites Creek Lane.
      • Two-way traffic will be maintained with intermittent closures.


VETERANS ROUNDABOUT MODIFICATIONS

Work items will generally include: construction of concrete improvements, including curb and gutter, and sidewalk and ramps. Demo will continue with subgrade and base prep.

  • A minimum of one paved travel lane will be open in each direction.
  • Left turn lanes at all signalized intersections will be open.
  • Short traffic delays may occur during this phase of construction.
  • Access will be maintained to adjacent properties
    • Temporary driveway closures may occur during certain construction activities; and if so, Q & D Construction will provide notice to impacted properties 18-24 hours prior to start of work.
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
    • No work will occur September 25 – September 26 to accommodate the Street Vibrations Special Event.
  • Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours.
  • Alternate routes such as S. Virginia Street and newly improved Steamboat Parkway are encouraged in an ongoing effort to alleviate traffic through the work zone when possible.
