Learn More About RTC’s Biggest Little Bike Network

Reno, Nevada (September 12, 2025) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, in partnership with the City of Reno, is advancing the transformative Biggest Little Bike Network Project towards final design and invites the community to see the newest plans and provide feedback at three upcoming pop-up events.

Learn more about the project from RTC representatives! The events are scheduled for:

  • Sunday, September 14 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Riverside Farmers Market at Idlewild Park.
  • Tuesday, September 16 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the University of Nevada outside the Joe Crowley Student Union.
  • Wednesday, September 17 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Bike Night Reno at Reno City Plaza.

Community members that are unable to attend the in-person events can review project materials and submit feedback online at www.BiggestLittleBikeNetwork.com now through October 12.

“The Biggest Little Bike Network is a significant milestone in transforming Downtown Reno’s transportation infrastructure,” said Sara Going, RTC’s Project Manager for this initiative. “This network will enhance four key Downtown Reno corridors with protected bike lanes, improved intersections, and accessible bus stops designed to provide better separation between different modes of transportation.”

The project corridors include:

  • Virginia Street – From Ninth Street to California Avenue.
  • Fifth Street – From Evans Avenue to Keystone Avenue.
  • Vine Street – From University Terrace to Riverside Drive.
  • Lake Street/Evans Avenue/Sinclair Street – From Ninth Street to Holcomb Avenue.

In addition, the network’s strategic connectivity will link the University of Nevada campus with Downtown and MidTown areas, creating seamless transportation options for students, visitors, and residents seeking entertainment and other destinations.

“The project’s goal is to create safer travel options for cyclists, pedestrians, and scooter users throughout Downtown Reno,” Going said. “That will improve safety and comfort for everyone.”

As the project moves through its advanced design phase, construction is expected to begin in 2026.

The Biggest Little Bike Network represents a collaborative effort between the RTC and City of Reno to reimagine urban mobility in the Biggest Little City, prioritizing safety and accessibility for all transportation modes.
