ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

Arlington Avenue will be closed between West 1st Street and Island Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured to the Virginia Street Bridge or Center Street. Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge.

  • West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.
  • Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.
  • River recreation detours will also be in place.

Daytime and nighttime construction continues with some single lane closures westbound on Mill Street between I-580 and Terminal Way.

Nighttime work begins at the Kietzke Lane/Mill Street intersection.

Bus Stop Closures:

  • The Route 12/14 westbound bus stop at Mill Street/Matley Lane is closed.

The new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) will be installed the week of July 14th at the crosswalk on Holcomb Avenue at Cheney Street in midtown.


E. LINCOLN WAY ROUNDABOUT RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Construction on E. Lincoln Way between Marina Gateway Drive and Sparks Boulevard is anticipated to continue through September. 

  • One paved travel lane in each direction will remain open through E. Lincoln Way between Sparks Boulevard and Marina Gateway Drive
  • Left turn lanes from northbound Sparks Boulevard to westbound E. Lincoln Way will be reduced throughout construction. 
  • There will be limited access to/from Scheels Drive, George Ferris Drive, and north mall access through the Scheels Roundabout intermittently throughout construction. Alternate access to adjacent properties will be maintained. 
  • Normal working hours are 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday morning.

VISTA AND DISC INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Major road work at the Vista Boulevard and Disc Drive intersection in Sparks for construction of new turn lanes is expected to begin in late July or early August.

Work is substantially complete at the Nichols Drive location and Veterans Parkway/Mira Loma Drive intersection. Motorists may occasionally see crews for final cleanup work.


2025 BRIDGE MAINTENANCE

Valley Road Bridge over I-80 will be closed July 7 – July 18. Alternate routes are University Way, Evans Street, Virginia Street, Ralston Street, Washington Street, and Vine Street to the west, and Wells Avenue to the east.


ARROWCREEK PARKWAY & WEDGE PARKWAY REHABILITATION

Construction operations will continue on Arrowcreek Parkway from Thomas Creek Road to the Arrowcreek Parkway/Wedge Parkway intersection.  Work will include concrete removals, utility adjustments and construction of concrete improvements:  curb, gutter, sidewalk, pedestrian ramps, driveways and valley gutters.

Arrowcreek Pkwy 

  • One-way traffic on Arrowcreek Parkway from approximately the Wedge Parkway intersection to Thomas Creek Road will be in place. Westbound/southbound traffic will be detoured to Mt. Rose Highway and S. Virginia Street via Thomas Creek Road.
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday


VETERANS ROUNDABOUT MODIFICATIONS

Work will continue on the inside lane of the roundabout and will generally include: concrete demolition, landscape removals and start of construction of concrete improvements.

  • A minimum of one paved travel lane will be open in each direction 
  • Left turn lanes at all signalized intersections will be open 
  • Short traffic delays may occur during this phase of construction 
  • Access will be maintained to adjacent properties 
    • Temporary driveway closures may occur during certain construction activities; and if so, Q&D will provide notice to impacted properties 18-24 hours prior to start of work 
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
