NOVEMBER 3, 2023:
The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County and Quanta Telecommunications Services will close portions of three roadways as part of the North McCarran Boulevard & Pyramid Highway Fiber Project starting Sunday, Nov. 5. 2023.
Overnight closures include:
- The northbound lane of Pyramid Way between Nugget Avenue and C Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
- Two of the three left turn lanes on eastbound Interstate 80 offramp to Pyramid Way
- Periodic Closure of Victorian Avenue on the east side of Pyramid Way.
Closures will happen 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings while crews install fiber infrastructure to improve communications to traffic signals. This phase of the project is anticipated to last for at least two weeks.
About the North McCarran Boulevard & Pyramid Highway Fiber Project:
The project will connect some of the traffic signals with fiber to improve traffic signal operations and safety on Pyramid Way between C Street and Victorian Avenue/Interstate 80 and on North McCarran Boulevard between Rock Boulevard and Sullivan Lane.
Construction is underway and is expected to be completed in early 2024. The project represents an investment of nearly $1.6 million, paid with RTC Fuel Tax.
