Full Intersection Closure at North Sierra Street and First Street Monday April 1
Reno, Nevada (March 29, 2024) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County and Sierra Nevada Construction, Inc. (SNC) will implement a full closure of the intersection at North Sierra Street and First Street on Monday, April 1. Traffic moving southbound on North Sierra Street will be diverted at West Second Street, please follow detours as posted.
The closure is anticipated to remain in place through Tuesday, April 2. Access to the First Street parking lot will remain open from West Street, while access to the Palladio parking lot will remain open from North Virginia Street.
This marks the beginning of Phase Four of the First Street Rehabilitation Project, which includes the full reconstruction of the First Street and Sierra Street intersection, as well as repaving First Street to Virginia Street. Completed work currently includes improvements to the watermain, new sidewalks, ADA accessibility improvements, and drainage improvements. In addition, traffic signals at the intersection will be updated.
