RTC Invites Community to Learn More About the Prater Way Rehabilitation Project
SPARKS, Nev. (Jan. 29, 2026) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is inviting community members to learn more about the upcoming Prater Way Rehabilitation Project at a pop-up information event at Sparks City Hall on Wednesday, February 4, from 4–6 p.m., as well as through online project materials available at rtcwashoe.com/project/prater-way-rehabilitation. Community feedback can be submitted online now through February 12.
The proposed road diet improvements focus on enhancing safety, operations, and long-term functionality of the Prater Way corridor.
Residents, business owners, and corridor users are encouraged to stop by the pop-up event to review project visuals and talk with the project team. For those unable to attend in person, full project information and an online comment form are available on the project webpage.
“This project is about creating a safer, more functional Prater Way for everyone who uses it,” said RTC Project Manager Kim Diegle. “Prater Way experienced more than 100 crashes between 2019 and 2023, including three fatalities. The proposed road diet improves safety and traffic flow while helping preserve on-street parking in the corridor — something that many alternative designs would not be able to maintain.”
