Learn more about RTC’s upcoming Pembroke Drive Capacity and Safety Project
RTC to host public information meeting Wednesday, April 29
RENO, Nev. (April 27, 2026) — The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) invites the community to a public information meeting on the Pembroke Drive Capacity and Safety Project on Wednesday, April 29, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology, 380 Edison Way, Reno. A brief presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Construction on the approximately $16.5 million project is anticipated to begin in summer 2026, with completion expected in summer 2027. The meeting gives residents an opportunity to learn about planned improvements and ask questions of the project team ahead of construction.
The project will widen and reconstruct Pembroke Drive between South McCarran Boulevard and Veterans Parkway, connect existing shared-use paths along both corridors, improve intersections, relocate overhead and underground utilities, and deliver drainage and floodplain mitigation improvements. The project is funded by local fuel tax revenue.
Also on the agenda is a companion project at Mira Loma Drive and South McCarran Boulevard, which will add turn capacity, improve pedestrian and bicycle access, and address access management concerns near Mira Loma Park.
“Pembroke Drive is an important connection for this neighborhood, and we want residents to feel confident about what’s coming before a single shovel hits the ground,” said Ashley Hurlbut, RTC Washoe project manager. “This is their chance to see the plans, talk directly with our engineers and know exactly what to expect.”
The meeting will be held in an open-house format, with project staff available throughout the evening to answer questions one-on-one.
