Help decide what comes next for Locust, Taylor, Kirman and Wells — survey closes July 2

RENO, Nev. (June 25, 2026) — Residents who live, work and travel through Reno’s historic Midtown and Central Reno neighborhoods have a direct opportunity to shape safety improvements on their streets. The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County reminds the community that the public survey for the Locust-Taylor-Kirman-Wells Corridor Study closes Thursday, July 2.

The study, conducted in close collaboration with the City of Reno, the Washoe County School District and the Nevada Department of Transportation, will result in recommendations for transportation infrastructure improvements along Locust Street, Kirman Avenue, Taylor Street and Wells Avenue. More than 405 crashes occurred along the study corridors between 2019 and 2023 — a public safety concern this study is designed to address.

The study builds directly on what the community has already reported to RTC. Feedback from the Central Reno/Midtown Neighborhood Network Plan identified a clear need for improved crosswalks, pedestrian warning lights and traffic calming on high-speed roadways throughout the corridor. The survey is the next step in turning that feedback into real recommendations.

“This is the community’s opportunity to directly influence what happens on this corridor,” said Josh MacEachern, RTC public information officer. “We want to hear from the people who use these streets every day before recommendations are finalized.”
