RTC Calls for Projects Focusing on Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities

Reno, Nevada (July 16, 2025) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is pleased to announce a call for projects to provide transportation improvements for seniors and people with disabilities. Applications will be accepted through noon on August 18.

Past projects were previously funded by the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Section 5310 dollars.

In response to the community’s need for funding flexibility, RTC is making the equivalent Section 5310 appropriations available in public transit (sales tax) funds for distribution to local projects.

The solicitation is for a two-year funding agreement encompassing federal fiscal years 2026-2027. A maximum of $1,211,496 in funding is proposed and is based on the FTA Section 5310 appropriations.

Eligible applicants must be private non-profits, local governmental authorities, or tribal governments. Completed applications must be emailed to jmeyers@rtcwashoe.com by noon on Monday, August 18.

Grant funds are available for capital and operating expenses to support the provision of transportation services to meet the specific needs of elderly people and persons with disabilities.  All projects must be situated in the Reno/Sparks, Washoe County urban area.
