RTC Extends Public Comment Period for Northeast Connector Study Following Increased Community Interest
RENO, Nev. (Jan. 23, 2026) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is extending the public comment period for the Northeast Connector Feasibility and Alignment Study.
The decision follows increased public interest and engagement in the study, which is evaluating long-term solutions to address congestion, safety, and system resilience along the I-80 corridor to USA Parkway.
“We’ve received more than 600 comments already, and that level of interest demonstrates how important this study is to our region,” said Bryan Byrne, RTC project manager. “Our role at RTC is to work alongside our local partners and the community to better understand the challenges on I-80 and identify practical, forward-thinking solutions that improve the reliability and safety in the area.”
In addition to extending the public comment period, RTC is planning to host another public information event to address feedback already received.
