Locust–Taylor–Kirman–Wells Corridor Study
About the Project
The Locust–Taylor–Kirman–Wells Corridor Study is being conducted to improve transportation safety and circulation, while considering multimodal needs. The project is being conducted by the RTC, in close collaboration with the City of Reno, Washoe County School District, and Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). The study will result in recommendations for transportation infrastructure improvements.

This project builds on previous studies, including the Central Reno/Midtown Neighborhood Network Plan (NNP) and RTC Washoe Active Transportation Plan. It will strengthen the quality of life in this vibrant historic district through strategic safety and multimodal improvements.
The study area today experiences traffic and safety challenges. Between 2019-2023, over 405 crashes occurred along the study corridors. Feedback received in the previous NNP highlighted bike and pedestrian infrastructure needs, such as crosswalks, pedestrian warning lights, and high-speed roads that would benefit from traffic calming features.
Project Timeline
This corridor study is expected to be completed by September 2026 and will include recommendations for solutions that improve mobility and safety.
