Project Description

The Veterans Parkway, SR 341 (Geiger Grade) US 395 (South Virginia Street) and SR 431 (Mount Rose Highway) corridors are experiencing increased traffic volumes, leading to congestion and operational deficiencies. This situation has resulted in reduced levels of service at critical intersections, notably the SR 341 (Geiger Grade) and Veterans Parkway roundabout, as well as the intersection of US 395 with SR 341/431.

While RTC is making interim improvements to the Veterans roundabout in the near term to address immediate needs, we are performing a feasibility study to build on previous studies and roadway development plans in South Reno and a preferred alternative or range of alternatives to meet the long term needs in the area in order to reduce congestion and improve traffic operations at the Veterans roundabout and the intersection of US 395 and SR 341/431. One alternative being considered is a realignment of Geiger Grade at Toll Road to US 395.

Previous studies include:

  • 2011 RTC Geiger Grade Realignment Study
  • 2020 RTC South Meadows Multimodal Transportation Study
  • 2022 NDOT Mount Rose Corridor Plan
  • 2024 RTC Geiger Grade Realignment Feasibility Update and Circulation Plan
