Project Description

The Pyramid Highway/US 395 Connection project is the result of a coordinated effort between the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Together, these agencies completed the environmental study, and the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision were approved by all three partners in 2018.

This collaborative effort laid the foundation for a major transportation investment that will help reduce congestion, improve safety, and support the continued growth of the Spanish Springs community.

As the project moves into future phases, RTC and NDOT will continue to work together to determine responsibilities for project delivery phases including design, right-of-way, and construction. The proposed improvements are located within NDOT right-of-way and will operate as NDOT highways.

Funding Source: Preliminary Design and Environmental Study ($9 million): RTC Fuel Tax, Federal Fixing Americas Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Funding Sources Phase 1 Design, Right of Way and Construction ($54.1 million): Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Grant, Federal Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Funds, State Transportation Funds, Local (RTC Fuel Tax and Regional Road Impact Fees (RRIF) Funds.
