Project Update: RTC to keep current Baring Boulevard traffic pattern through completion of intersection improvements
SPARKS, Nev. (July 31, 2026) — The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC), in partnership with the City of Sparks and Granite Construction, will maintain the current traffic configuration at the Baring Boulevard and Sparks Boulevard intersection through completion of intersection improvements on August 3.
Holding the current pattern will allow crews to complete the remaining work quickly and more safely, while delivering a faster return to normal conditions for road users.
“The Sparks community has dealt with a lot of construction this year, and we respect how much that asks of people going about their daily lives,” said Garrett Rodgers, RTC project manager. “Holding this traffic pattern is the safest and most efficient path to the finish line, and we are focused on delivering that as soon as possible.”
The intersection improvements are part of the Sparks Boulevard Project, which will widen Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Greg Street from four to six lanes, improving safety and reducing congestion in this fast-growing corridor. The Sparks Boulevard Project is currently on schedule for completion in June 2027.
