Construction on Sparks Boulevard Project Begins Monday September 15
The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, in partnership with the City of Sparks and the Nevada Department of Transportation, is beginning construction on the second phase of the Sparks Boulevard Project from the I-80 westbound ramps to Baring Boulevard, with additional roadway improvements included from Baring Boulevard to Shadow Lane. The project is anticipated for completion in mid-2027 and represents an investment of approximately $86 million into our community, funded with a combination of federal grants and local sources.

Construction Begins on Legends Roundabouts
The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will start construction on the Legends Roundabouts tonight, July 7.
This project will modify the two roundabouts on East Lincoln Way in Sparks between Sparks Boulevard and Marina Gateway Drive to reduce crashes, improve lane utilization, add capacity and facilitate safer pedestrian crossings.
Ralston Street Bridge Closed for Resurfacing June 24 – July 3
The Ralston Street bridge over Interstate 80 will be closed for resurfacing starting Tuesday, June 24 as part of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County’s 2025 Bridge Maintenance Project. Work is expected to be completed by July 3.
First St./Arlington Ave. Intersection Closure
The First St./Arlington Ave. intersection has been temporarily closed to all vehicle traffic and pedestrians through Friday, June 20 as crews advance the construction of the RTC’s Arlington Avenue Bridges Project. During the closure, drivers and pedestrians traveling on First St. will be detoured to Second St. via West St. or Ralston St.
