Temporary Closures and Traffic Changes on West Street, 6th, and 7th Streets
RENO, Nev. (Feb. 10, 2026) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is implementing temporary road closures and traffic pattern changes in downtown Reno as crews work on pavement and sidewalk rehabilitation.
Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 11, 6th Street will be closed between Arlington Avenue and West Street for approximately one month. During this time, a clearly marked detour will be in place to maintain access to the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center emergency room.
In addition, West Street between 6th Street and 5th Street will be reduced to one-way traffic traveling southbound during working hours Monday through Friday.
Drivers should also expect changes on 7th Street between Keystone Avenue and Washington Street, where travel lanes will be shifted as crews complete sidewalk improvements. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible.
RTC reminds drivers to slow down in construction areas, follow posted detours, and watch for pedestrians and construction workers.
