Sparks Boulevard Pedestrian Path Detours Begin January 19

SPARKS, Nev. (Jan. 16, 2026) – The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is implementing a pedestrian path closure on Sparks Boulevard between Prater Way and O’Callaghan/Springland Drive, beginning Monday, January 19. The temporary closure is expected to remain in place for approximately two months as construction continues along the corridor.

During the closure, a clearly marked pedestrian detour will guide foot traffic along Pullman Drive to Union Street, then from Union Street to O’Callaghan/Springland Drive.

“Safety doesn’t take a day off,” said Garrett Rodgers, RTC Project Manager. “This detour is essential to keep pedestrians out of active construction areas and ensure everyone gets where they’re going safely. We’re grateful for the community’s understanding as we continue to deliver this project.”

RTC encourages pedestrians and commuters to allow additional time when traveling through the area and to follow all posted signage for their safety.
