24/7 Lane Closures on Sparks Boulevard Beginning January 26

SPARKS, Nev. (Jan. 23, 2026) – Beginning Monday, Jan. 26, drivers will experience 24/7 lane closures on Sparks Boulevard as part of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County’s Sparks Boulevard Project. This marks a change from the previous daytime-only closures.

The inside northbound and southbound lanes on Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Prater Way will now be closed around the clock for roadway widening. While the traffic control configuration remains consistent with current conditions, the closure limits have been extended approximately three-quarters of a mile and will remain in place through May 2026. This extension is intended to reduce overall construction time by several months.

“This change allows us to work more efficiently and shorten the overall construction timeline,” said RTC Project Manager Garrett Rodgers. “We know this is an adjustment for drivers, but these extended closures will help deliver the project sooner while maintaining safety for both workers and the traveling public.”

Motorists should expect delays and plan to allow extra travel time.
