ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

Arlington Avenue will be closed between West 1st Street and Island Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured to the Virginia Street Bridge or Center Street. Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge.

  • West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.
  • Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.
  • River recreation detours will also be in place.

MILL STREET CAPACITY & SAFETY

Construction on Mill Street will temporarily shut down during Hot August Nights, August 1 to August 10. Beginning Sunday night, August 10, construction will continue during both night and day shifts. Morning crews work from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and night crews begin at 7:00 p.m., Sunday night to Friday night. Drivers will see single lane closures and some traffic signals will be flashing red, four-way stop condition during night work.

Look Ahead

Matley Lane at Mill Street will be closed for 14 days beginning on Sunday night, August 10. During this closure, traffic will not be permitted to exit or enter Matley lane from Mill Street. All traffic will be directed to use Vassar Street to access Mately Lane through detour signage. Traffic exiting businesses along Matley Lane will be directed toward Vassar Street. The closure is needed to complete the permanenet configuration and new design of Mill Street.

E. LINCOLN WAY ROUNDABOUT RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Construction on E. Lincoln Way between Marina Gateway Drive and Sparks Boulevard is anticipated to continue through September.   

  • Normal working hours are 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday morning.
  • Scheels roundabout will be fully closed during night-time working hours.
  • One paved travel lane in each direction will remain open through E. Lincoln Way between Sparks Boulevard and Marina Gateway Drive during the day.
  • there will be limited access to/from Scheels Drive, George Ferris Drive, and north mall access through the Scheels roundabout intermittently during the day throughout construction. Alternate access to adjacent properties will be maintained.
  • Left turn lanes from northbound Sparks Boulevard to westbound E. Lincoln Way will be reduced throughout construction.
  • Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours.

VISTA AND DISC INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Motorists can expect the following restrictions as crews relocate utilities:

  • Periodic closures of the right lane on Vista Boulevard southbound approaching the Disc Drive intersection. Lane closures will generally occur between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Sidewalk closure on the west side of Vista Boulevard at the same location.
  • Access to the shopping center will remain open.


2025 BRIDGE MAINTENANCE

Evans Street Bridge over I-80 will be closed August 4 to August 8.  Alternate bridge routes are, Virginia Street, Ralston Street, Washington Street, and Vine Street to the west, and Valley Road and Wells Avenue to the east. 


ARROWCREEK PARKWAY & WEDGE PARKWAY REHABILITATION

August 4 – August 15

Paving operations will start on Arrowcreek Parkways from Thomas Creek Road to approximately the west side of the Arrowcreek Parkway/Wedge Parkway intersection.

Arrowcreek Pkwy 

  • A full closure on Arrowcreek Pkwy, from approximately the west side of the Wedge Pkwy/Arrowcreek Pkwy intersection to the east side of the Thomas Creek Rd/Arrowcreek Pkwy intersection, will be in place through paving operations.  Traffic will be detoured to Mt Rose Hwy and S. Virginia St via Thomas Creek Rd. 
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday 
  • Work is tentatively scheduled to occur on Saturday, 08/02/2025 and 08/09/2025

Wedge Pkwy 

  • Construction of concrete improvements will continue on Wedge Parkway next week; pending final permit approvals; two-way traffic will be maintained with intermittent closures:
    • Demo work will be performed on the median island/curb
    • Curb, gutter, sidewalk and pedestrian ramps improvements will be constructed in the northbound lane.
    • Utility adjustments will occur between Golden Gate Drive and Mt. Rose Highway.
