Overnight closures begin June 21 on Sparks Boulevard

Paving operations require temporary directional closures between Baring Boulevard and Prater Way

SPARKS, Nev. (June 18, 2026) — The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, in partnership with the City of Sparks and Granite Construction, will implement temporary overnight directional closures on Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Prater Way beginning Sunday night, June 21, as crews pave newly constructed lanes as part of the Sparks Boulevard Capacity Project.

To minimize impacts on daytime traffic and improve safety for workers and motorists, paving operations will take place overnight. Drivers should expect temporary detours and allow extra travel time.

Motorists can expect the following overnight closures:

  • Sunday, June 21, and Monday, June 22: Southbound Sparks Boulevard closed from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 23, and Wednesday, June 24: Northbound Sparks Boulevard closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26: Southbound Sparks Boulevard closed from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 28, and Monday, June 29: Northbound Sparks Boulevard closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • No active construction closures are planned for Saturday, June 27.

During closure periods, drivers will be directed to use Vista Boulevard and McCarran Boulevard as alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signage and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Traffic control schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment availability or other unforeseen conditions.
