RTC RIDE is the public transit bus system of the greater Reno/Sparks area, providing residents and visitors with safe and reliable bus service. We are committed to making your trip a pleasant one. We’re proud of our clean, modern bus fleet and our professional and courteous coach operators.

RTC RIDE service began on Sept. 17, 1978, with five used buses serving four routes. Today, the system encompasses the cities of Reno and Sparks, and areas of Washoe County using a fleet of 70 buses on 26 routes. The service area has grown to approximately 136 square miles. Last year, 8.4 million rides were taken on RTC transit services.

On October 26, 2008, RTC opened RTC CENTENNIAL PLAZA. This transit center, which gives RTC a notable presence in downtown Sparks, can support the expansion of service to 2030 and beyond.  Construction of RTC 4TH STREET STATION was completed in fall 2010. The RTC RIDE fleet includes two 40-ft hybrid diesel-electric buses. The growing need to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions in the United States transportation section has spurred transit agencies to pioneer the adoption of alternative fuels and new drive system technologies. RTC New Flyer’s DE60LFR model — a 60′ articulated low-floor diesel-electric hybrid bus. The buses were put into service in fall 2010 to coincide with the opening of RTC 4TH STREET STATION to enhance RTC RAPID service.
