Project Description

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC), in partnership with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) plans to provide bus-only lanes on South Virginia Street from Peckham Lane to Plumb Lane. Additional scope for this project includes water line replacement, sidewalk and driveway upgrades for ADA compliance, drainage improvements and traffic signal improvements. Additionally, RTC will upgrade of the existing southbound mini Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station north of Brinkby Avenue to a full size station, and modify the loading platform of several existing BRT stations along the Virginia RAPID Line.

Latest News

The project was advertised for construction bids in January 2026, and the low bidder was Q&D Construction. Construction of the BRT improvements and road work anticipated to start in Spring 2026, following the completion of the overhead to underground utility relocation project led by NV Energy that is currently underway.
