Crews will begin paving Thursday, Oct. 15, as part of RTC’s Pyramid Highway Operations Improvements Project, marking a key milestone in construction along a major commuter corridor in Spanish Springs.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) is adding a southbound through lane on Pyramid Highway between Ingenuity Avenue and Egyptian Drive. The project also includes traffic signal upgrades to improve traffic operations along the growing corridor. Paving is a key step toward completing the new lane and preparing it for use.
“We ask motorists to reduce their speed, remain alert and use caution when traveling through the work zone to help protect construction crews,” said Jessica Dover, RTC project manager.
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Construction schedules may change due to weather or other conditions.
RTC reminds drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to take the following precautions when traveling through the work zone:
- Follow posted signs, traffic cones and flagger instructions.
- Obey posted work zone speed limits.
- Be mindful of construction crews, equipment and trucks entering and exiting the roadway.
- Avoid distractions, including mobile phone use.
- Allow extra travel time, particularly during morning and evening commutes.
