Project Description

RTC’s Pyramid Hwy Operations Improvements Project is underway.  This Project will construct an additional southbound through lane along SR 445 from Ingenuity Ave to Egyptian Dr, upgrade the traffic signal system at the Calle De La Plata intersection, install a new signal at the Ingenuity Ave intersection, and perform utility adjustments, grading and drainage improvements as necessary.

Construction is anticipated to continue through Spring 2027.

Project exhibit for the Pyramid Highway Operations Improvements Project from Ingenuity Avenue to Egyptian Drive. The graphic shows an aerial view of the approximately two-mile Pyramid Highway corridor with detailed callouts of proposed intersection improvements at Calle de la Plata and at Ingenuity Avenue/Horizon View. Improvements include adding a southbound travel lane, upgrading pedestrian ramps and traffic signals, installing a new traffic signal at Ingenuity Avenue, drainage and utility improvements, and fiber optic traffic signal connections. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2026 and be completed in spring 2027. Estimated project cost is $13.2 million, funded by RTC Fuel Tax.

Latest News

Q&D has started clearing, grubbing, demo work and signal work for the project on the west side of Pyramid Hwy, primarily between Egyptian Dr to Calle De La Plata within the roadway shoulder.

Crews are tentatively scheduled to start work in the shoulder in the northbound direction at the end of August 2026.

Q&D is working toward an interim solution to accommodate detection needs at Calle De La Plata to assist with congestion in the Pyramid Hwy southbound direction as signal work progresses for the project.
