Project Description
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC), in partnership with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) plans to provide bus-only lanes on South Virginia Street from Peckham Lane to Plumb Lane. Additional scope for this project includes water line replacement, sidewalk and driveway upgrades for ADA compliance, drainage improvements and traffic signal improvements. Additionally, RTC will upgrade of the existing southbound mini Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station north of Brinkby Avenue to a full size station, and modify the loading platform of several existing BRT stations along the Virginia RAPID Line.
Latest News
The final design is complete for the project. NV Energy is proceeding with an overhead to underground utility relocation project, and is anticipated to start in early 2026. Construction of the BRT improvements and road work is expected to start in Spring 2026.
