Project Description

Traffic signal, safety, and/or geometric improvements at the following intersections:

Robb Drive and Seventh Street near McQueen High School (In-Progress)

• Replace the static school zone signs with an overhead flashing beacon system to improve speeding compliance and safety.
• Install pedestrian ramps at the midblock crossing on Seventh Street east of Sapphire Ridge Way.

Mayberry Drive / Hunter Lake (In-Progress)

• Replace the static school zone signs with a flashing beacon system to improve speeding compliance and safety.
• Upgrade the emergency vehicle flasher for Reno Fire Station No. 5.

Greg Street / Kleppe Lane (In-Progress)

• Replace traffic signal equipment that has reached end of life.

Baring Boulevard / North Truckee Lane (In-Progress)

• Replace traffic signal poles and equipment that has reached end of life.
• Replace pedestrian ramps.

El Rancho Drive / Wedekind Road (In-Progress)

• Upgrade the northbound/southbound left-turn signal heads to allow for a flashing yellow arrow.
• Replace the pedestrian ramps on the east side of the intersection.
• Replace traffic signal equipment that has reached end of life.

Baring Boulevard / Goldy Way (Begins March 9, 2026)

• Replace traffic signal poles and equipment that have reached end of life.
• Improve lane alignment and striping.
• Replace pedestrian ramps.

US 395 / Clear Acre Lane (Start Date TBD)

• Modify the signal’s vehicle detection system to induction loops.

Robb Drive / Mae Anne Avenue (Start Date TBD)

• Modify left-turn signal phasing for southbound Robb Drive. Change the shared through/left lane to through only to allow more vehicle movements to run concurrently and improve intersection efficiency.

McCarran Boulevard / Mira Loma Drive (Start Date TBD)

• Add a right-turn signal phase to the McCarran Boulevard northbound right turn. This will improve efficiency by giving the right-turning a dedicated phase that can overlap with other non-conflicting intersection movements.

Calle de la Plata / Isidor Court / Silent Sparrow Drive (Start Date TBD)

• Add a right-turn signal phase to the Silent Sparrow Drive eastbound right-turn. This will improve efficiency by giving the right-turning a dedicated phase that can overlap with other non-conflicting intersection movements.

Latest News

Construction is set to resume Monday, March 9, 2026,  signal pole foundations have been installed at Baring Boulevard / Goldy Way and crews will return in April 2026, to complete sidewalk, install the new signal poles and install new striping. Throughout April work will occur at all locations as the project approaches completion in May 2026.
