FOR RELEASE: RTC offers free rides to Hot August Nights Aug. 4-9

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will offer free rides Aug. 4-9 on the RAPID Virginia Line, RAPID Lincoln Line and Routes 1, 7 and 11 during Hot August Nights. RTC ACCESS customers can also enjoy free rides to Hot August Nights event locations on those dates.

The free service gives residents and visitors another way to get to the event without worrying about downtown parking or congestion. RTC is offering the service as part of its ongoing effort to reduce traffic congestion during major community events.

FOR RELEASE: RTC to keep current Baring Boulevard traffic pattern through completion of intersection improvements

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC), in partnership with the City of Sparks and Granite Construction, will maintain the current traffic configuration at the Baring Boulevard and Sparks Boulevard intersection through completion of intersection improvements on August 3.

FOR RELEASE: Baring Boulevard intersection to close July 24 for Sparks Boulevard project

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, in partnership with the City of Sparks and Granite Construction, will temporarily close Baring Boulevard on both the east and west sides of the Sparks Boulevard intersection beginning Friday, July 24, to reconstruct the intersection as part of the Sparks Boulevard Capacity Project.

Sparks Boulevard will remain open to through traffic, and access to nearby neighborhoods and businesses will be maintained using signed detour routes. Motorists should follow posted detours and allow additional travel time while work is underway.

Drivers are encouraged to reduce speeds, watch for changing traffic patterns and remain alert for construction crews and equipment while traveling through the work zone.

FOR RELEASE: RTC secures $25 million federal BUILD grant for Sun Valley Boulevard improvements

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) has secured a $25 million grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant Program for the Sun Valley Boulevard Corridor Improvements Project. U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., announced the award after working with RTC to advance the project.

FOR RELEASE: Road rehabilitation work begins Monday on Prater Way in Sparks

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) is starting roadway improvements on Prater Way in Sparks on Monday, June 15. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Pyramid Way and Stanford Way as crews begin concrete removal, concrete replacement and storm drain improvements on the Prater Way Rehabilitation Project.

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will reduce traffic to one lane on southbound Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Shadow Lane beginning Wednesday, April 8, and continuing through Friday, April 10. Closures will be in effect daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
