7TH STREET, 6TH STREET, & WEST REHABILITATION PROJECT

7th Street Between Keystone Avenue and Washington Street
No construction activities during this time. Construction will resume on April 13th.
During construction, the RTC RIDE ROUTE 4 bus service will be impacted. Detours or changes to bus stop locations are noted in advance of the affected stops.
March 30 – April 17
6th Street Between Arlington Avenue and West Street & West Street Between 5th & 6th Street
No construction activities during this time. Construction will resume on April 20th.
ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

- Arlington Avenue will close between West 1st Street and Island Avenue.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured to Virginia Street or Center Street.
- Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge.
- West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.
- Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.
- River recreation detours will also be in place.

MILL STREET CAPACITY & SAFETY

Mill Street is reduced to one lane in each direction from the I-580 overpass west to just west of Kietzke Lane 24/7. Lane closure on Kietzke Lane are also in place. Expect delays through the month of April.
Upcoming Side Street Closures (Dates subject to change)
- Golden Lane CLOSED beginning March 31 to April 10
- Sunshine Lane CLOSED beginning April 12 to April 17
- Reservation Road CLOSED beginning April 1 for approximately three weeks
- Reservation Road, Golden Lane and Sunshine Lane CLOSED one night, April 16
Pedestrian Detours
Please use signed detours in the vicinity of the Kietzke Lane/Mill Street intersection.
Transit Update
Route 9 inbound bus stop at Kietzke Lane north of Mill Street is temporarily relocated north to accommodate construction in the area.
Bus Stop Closures
RTC RIDE bus service may be temporarily impacted within the project area. Detours or changes to bus stop locations will be noted in advance at the affected bus stop and at https://rtcwashoe.com/alerts/

NORTH VALLEYS NORTH VIRGINIA STREET CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

April 5 –
Crews will be performing underground utility investigations on North Virginia Street between Panther Drive and Stead Boulevard.
The traveling public can expect the following traffic control:
- Intermittent single lane closures in the northbound/westbound direction.
- Intermittent single lane closures in the southbound/eastbound direction.
SPARKS BOULEVARD CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – NORTH PHASE

Construction will continue through June 2027. Project limits are from intersection of Sparks Boulevard/I80 westbound ramps to the intersection of Sparks Boulevard/ Shadow Lane.
The community is encouraged to stay informed about the project by accessing the project website (www.sparksblvdproject.com), or by texting “Sparks” to 866-540-8466.
Construction operations will mostly take place from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the northbound direction and 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the southbound direction, Monday through Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance of this work.

The community can expect the following traffic control:
Northbound and Southbound Long-Term Closure (24/7 thru May 2026)
- 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and the Prater Way Intersection. Closure in effect through May 2026.
- 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Shadow Lane Intersections in the Southbound direction only. Closure in effect through May 2026.
Southbound (9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday-Friday)
- Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard from Shadow Lane to Baring Boulevard.
- Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard from I-80 to Lincoln Way. I-80 eastbound off-ramp lane restriction.
Northbound (5:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday)
- Free right turn closed to truck traffic from Sparks Boulevard northbound to Prater Way eastbound. Truck detour in place.
Howard Drive Detour
- Howard Drive closed at Sparks Boulevard. Detour available via Fargo Way to O’Callaghan Drive.
Prater Way (8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., Sunday Night-Friday Morning)
- Single lane closure eastbound Prater Way.
TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER 25-01

Mayberry Drive: Fairbanks Court – Approx. 500 feet East of Hunter Lake Drive

- Final install of the school zone flashers and emergency vehicle flashers begins. Expect intermittent closures of the outside travel lane in both directions.
Baring Boulevard / Goldy Way
- Signal pole foundations are complete. Crews will move to other locations while concrete is curing. There will be no lane closures during this time however traffic control devices will still be present. Continue to use caution in the area. Intermittent lane closures will resume by mid-April.
El Rancho Drive / Wedekind Road

- There will be no lane closures during this time however traffic control devices will still be present. Continue to use caution in the area. Work will resume April 6th.
VETERANS ROUNDABOUT MODIFICATIONS

This project has reached final completion.
Q & D Construction will be onsite in early April for approximately two days to repair the sound end of the north median island at the S. Virginia Street/Geiger Grade Road intersection; schedule and weather dependent. Access will be maintained in each direction. Work will be performed during normal working hours (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday).
WEST FOURTH STREET DOWNTOWN (WEST STREET TO VINE STREET)

Crews will be focusing on the Vine Street intersection. There will be lane reductions in both the east and westbound lane as workers install new signal infrastructure. Slow down for workers!
WEST FOURTH STREET SAFTEY (VINE STREET TO McCARRAN BOULEVARD)

Traffic will be shifted to the southside of Fourth street with two-way traffic in one lane each direction in the four lane areas. The signals at Stoker Avenue will be removed and there will be a stop sign control at Stoker Avenue. The North side of the roadway will be a work zone. In the two-lane area west of Summit Ridge Court, traffic will be eastbound; on Summit Ridge Court traffic will be northbound only. Retaining wall and sidewalk work continues, work will continue to progress throughout the corridor. Please slow down so everyone goes home safe!
