7th Street Between Keystone Avenue and Washington Street
- Crews are rehabilitating the roadway. Vehicles will travel on uneven surfaces with ramps in and out of driveways/side streets.
- 7th Street will be closed to eastbound traffic with one-way westbound traffic between Washington Street and Keystone Avenue.
- Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours. Please use alternate routes such as University Terrace. Expect delays.
- Access will be maintained to adjacent properties during construction; however, temporary driveway closures will occur, and property owners/tenants will be notified 18-24 hours in advance of driveway closures of obstructions.
- Parking on street will not be possible within the construction traffic zones during construction. During construction, the RTC RIDE ROUTE 4 bus service will be impacted. Detours or changes to bus stop locations are noted in advance of the affected stops.

6th Street between Arlington Avenue and West Street & West Street between 5th Street and 6th Street

- Detour route for St. Mary’s Emergency Room will be posted.

ARLINGTON AVENUE BRIDGES PROJECT – 1ST STREET TO ISLAND AVENUE

- Arlington Avenue will close between West 1st Street and Island Avenue.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured to Virginia Street or Center Street.
- Southbound traffic and pedestrians will be detoured to the Sierra Street Bridge.
- West Street will be open to westbound traffic only between West Street and Stevenson Street.
- Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.
- River recreation detours will also be in place.

BUCK DRIVE ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS

Work Description
This project will be completed in multiple phases. Initial work includes concrete and roadway improvements on the south side of the roadway.
Traffic Impacts
- Traffic control will be in place with modified travel patterns
- Eastbound travel will be maintained on Buck Drive
- Southbound travel only will be permitted on N. Hill Boulevard
- Westbound access will be maintained west of the Grocery Outlet Delivery Driveway.
Additional Information
- Construction activities may impact bus routes and commute times.
- Traffic control will be adjusted as feasible to reduce peak hour impacts
MILL STREET CAPACITY & SAFETY

Lane Closures
A minimum of one paved lane will be open in each direction on Mill Street from Yori Avenue to I-580 with left turn lanes at all signalized intersections. Closures on Kietzke Lane in the vicinity may also take place. Short traffic delays may occur during some operations.
Side Street Closures
- Reservation Road, access to mill Street will be closed through early May. Use signed detours.
Pedestrian Detours
Please use signed detours in the vicinity of the Kietzke Lane/Mill Street intersection.
Bus Stop Closures
RTC RIDE bus service may be temporarily impacted within the project area. Detours or changes to bus stop locations will be noted in advance at the affected bus stop and at https://rtcwashoe.com/alerts/
In the event of a closure, riders should follow signage to the nearest bus stop of call RTC customer service at (775) 348-RIDE (348-7433) for real time information.

SPARKS BOULEVARD CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – NORTH PHASE

Construction will continue through June 2027. Project limits are from intersection of Sparks Boulevard/I80 westbound ramps to the intersection of Sparks Boulevard/ Shadow Lane.

Construction operations will mostly take place from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the northbound direction and 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the southbound direction, Monday through Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance of this work.

The community can expect the following traffic control:
Northbound and Southbound Long-Term Closure (24/7 thru May 2026)
- 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and the Prater Way Intersection. Closure in effect through May 2026.
- 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Shadow Lane Intersections in the Southbound direction only. Closure in effect through May 2026.
- Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard from I-80 to Lincoln Way northbound direction. I-80 eastbound off-ramp lane restrictions.
Southbound (9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday-Friday)
- Single lane closure Sparks Boulevard from I-80 to Lincoln Way. I-80 eastbound off-ramp lane restriction.
Howard Drive Detour
- Howard Drive closed at Sparks Boulevard. Detour available via Fargo Way to O’Callaghan Drive.
TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER 25-01

Installation of traffic fiber on Vista Boulevard from Prater Way to Baring Boulevard, Longley Lane from Maestro Drive to S. McCarran Boulevard, Kietzke Lane from Fisherman’s Park to Galletti Way, and Galletti Way from Kietzke Lane to Glendale Avenue.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS 25-01

Please anticipate major disruptions as crews complete paving work at the following locations:
Baring Boulevard / N. Truckee Lane
- May 5th: Swapping to the new signal. Intersection will operate in all-way stop control until new signals are activated.
- May 8th: Single lane closures for westbound. The north side of the intersection will be closed in both directions temporarily. A signed detour will be provided.
Baring Boulevard / Goldy Way
- May 8th: Goldy Way from Baring Blvd to Woodstone Dr will be closed temporarily. A signed detour will be in place.
Calle de la Plata / Silent Sparrow Drive
- May 8th: Silent Sparrow Dr between Cygnus Wy and Calle De La Plata will be closed temporarily for paving. A signed detour will be in place.
El Rancho Drive / Wedekind Road
- May 4th – 5th: Signal may be in Red-Flash (all-way stop control) intermittently as crews complete signal work.
WEST FOURTH STREET DOWNTOWN (WEST STREET TO VINE STREET)

Crews will be focusing on the Vine Street intersection. The Fourth Street and Vine Street intersection is open with temporary signal equipment in place. In the next few weeks crews will continue installing the new corridor lighting. Some of these have been stood up on the south side of Fourth Street between Ralston Street and Arlington Avenue. Slow down for workers!
WEST FOURTH STREET SAFTEY (VINE STREET TO McCARRAN BOULEVARD)

Traffic has been shifted to the southside of Fourth Street with two-way traffic in one lane each direction in the four lane areas. The signals at Stoker have been removed and there is now three-way stop sign control at Stoker. The north side of the roadway will be a work zone throughout the corridor. In the two-lane area west of Summit Ridge Court, traffic will be eastbound; on Summit Ridge Court traffic will be northbound only. Retaining wall and sidewalk work continues, work will continue to progress throughout the corridor. Please slow down so everyone goes home safe!
