  • Wingfield Park will remain closed from May 5, 2025, until summer 2026.

Granite construction will be on site to address punch list items on both Arrowcreek Parkway and Wedge Parkway through early March.

Arrowcreek Parkway & Wedge Parkway

  • Open to two-way traffic with intermittent closures and flagger controls to complete remaining work items.
    • The Golden Gate Drive/Wedge Parkway intersection will be 4-way flagger-controlled on 02/224 during coordination with the City of Reno to place the new traffic signal cabinet into service.
  • Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours; please use alternate routes such as Arrowcreek Parkway, Thomas Creek Road, and S. Virginia Street.
  • Normal working hours are from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

 


MILL STREET CAPACITY & SAFETY

Nighttime work is complete and the project team is working days again.  Drivers will see daytime single lane closures on Mill Street in both directions and on northbound and southbound Kietzke Lane just south and north of the Mill Street intersection.

Please use signed detours in the vicinity of the Kietzke Lane/Mill Street intersection.

Transit Update

Route 9 inbound bus stop at Kietzke Lane north of Mill Street is temporarily relocated north to accommodate construction in the area.

Bus Stop Closures
RTC RIDE bus service may be temporarily impacted within the project area. Detours or changes to bus stop locations will be noted in advance at the affected bus stop and at https://rtcwashoe.com/alerts/

In the event of a closure, riders should follow signage to the nearest bus stop of call RTC customer service at (775) 348-RIDE (348-7433) for real time information.

SPARKS BOULEVARD CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – NORTH PHASE

Construction will continue through June 2027. Project limits are from intersection of Sparks Boulevard/I80 westbound ramps to the intersection of Sparks Boulevard/ Shadow Lane.

The community is encouraged to stay informed about the project by accessing the project website (www.sparksblvdproject.com), or by texting “Sparks” to 866-540-8466.

Construction operations will mostly take place from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the northbound direction and 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the southbound direction, Monday through Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance of this work.

March 15 – March 21

The community can expect the following traffic control:

Northbound and Southbound Long-Term Closure (24/7 thru May 2026)

  • 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and the Prater Way Intersection. Closure in effect through May 2026.
  • 24/7 single lane closure Sparks Boulevard between Baring Boulevard and Shadow Lane Intersections in the Southbound direction only.  Closure in effect through May 2026.

Northbound (5:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday)

  • Free right turn closed to truck traffic from Sparks Boulevard northbound to Prater Way eastbound. Truck detour in place.

Howard Drive Detour

  • Howard Drive closed at Sparks Boulevard. Detour available via Fargo Way to O’Callaghan Drive.

 


TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER 25-01

Installation of traffic fiber on Vista Boulevard from Prater Way to Baring Boulevard, Longley Lane from Maestro Drive to S. McCarran Boulevard, Kietzke Lane from Fisherman’s Park to Galletti Way, and Galletti Way from Kietzke Lane to Glendale Avenue.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS 25-01

March 9 – March 23

Work begins to install new traffic signals and pedestrians ramps at the intersection of Baring Boulevard and Goldy Way.  Near the intersection expect intermittent closures of the outside lane on Baring Boulevard for both directions between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Crew will resume work on the school zone flashers for McQueen High School near the end of March.

 


WEST FOURTH STREET DOWNTOWN (WEST STREET TO VINE STREET)

Crews will continue working on both the north and sound side(s) of Fourth Street between West Street and Keystone Avenue. Outside lanes will be closed in certain areas to provide a work zone buffer. There may also be lane reductions at the Vine Street intersection. Traffic impacts should be minimal. Slow down for workers!

 


WEST FOURTH STREET SAFTEY (VINE STREET TO McCARRAN BOULEVARD)

Work is scheduled to begin February 23rd, with traffic control on the North side of Fourth Street between Summit Ridge Drive and McCarran Boulevard.  Crews will be working outside of the roadway installing retaining walls and sidewalk.  Please slow down so everyone goes home safe.

 


NORTH VALLEYS NORTH VIRGINIA STREET CAPACITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Crews will be performing underground utility investigations on North Virginia Street between Panther Drive and Stead Boulevard.

The traveling public can expect the following traffic control:

  • Intermittent single lane closures in the northbound/westbound direction.
  • Intermittent single lane closures in the southbound/eastbound direction.

 


7TH STREET, 6TH STREET, & WEST REHABILITATION PROJECT

7th Street Between Keystone Avenue and Washington Street

Crews will be performing miscellaneous, intermittent minor items of work with little impact to traffic until the next phase of construction anticipated to start the beginning of April.

During construction, the RTC RIDE ROUTE 4 bus service will be impacted.  Detours or changes to bus stop locations are noted in advance of the affected stops.

March 16 – March 20

6th Street Between Arlington Avenue and West Street & West Street Between 5th & 6th Street

Crews will be performing utility work in the roadway march 19th and 20th

Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted detours: short traffic delays may occur.

  • 6th Street will be closed between Arlington Avenue and West Street
  • One-way southbound traffic on West Street from 6th Street to 5th Street.
  • Please use alternate routes such as Arlington Avenue, 5th Street, and Sierra Street.
  • Detour route for St. Mary’s Emergency Room will be posted.
  • Access to parking garages and businesses will be maintained.

Parking on street will not be possible within the construction traffic control zones during construction.
